Mona Singh's Kaala Paani season 2 went on the backburner just as the show was about to go on floors. The same appears to hold true for Guilty Minds season 2 as well. A recent report suggests that Guilty Minds season 2 was under development, which is when the makers were informed that the series would not go on floors at all and has been scrapped. Is Guilty Minds season 2 scrapped?

Starring The Broken News actress Shriya Pilgaonkar in the lead role opposite Varun Mitra, Guilty Minds season 2 was about to go on floors, when the team was, according to The Hollywood Reporter India, informed that the series would not take off. "Developing the second season was almost done when the team was informed that Prime Video is pulling the plug. The reason given was budget issues; it has been tough for shows to get commissioned and tougher even for relatively medium budget shows to break out," a source told the portal. Although the series was well-received in 2022, the streamer reportedly felt that it did not justify the budget.

More shows under the scanner?

Another source shared that many other shows from all streamers are under the scanner, mainly owing to the slump in the post-COVID era. The new challenges could result in losing out on promising talent but there has been a 're-check' in budgeting. "This makes it harder for everyone in the ecosystem to survive — from writers and creators trying to break the mould, to actors putting their might behind new storytelling. Ultimately, this will also result in massive job losses for everyone, which has real consequences," the little birdie shared.
