The Hot Stone to Room No. 222: Yessma releases new adult series after casting controversy

After many had expressed doubt that the Malayalam adult OTT platform Yessma would be shut down after it was rocked by a casting controversy and legal case, the ones behind the venture released three more series.

Following the controversy, in which an actor and actress had come out to reveal that they were allegedly forced to act in scenes that they initially didn’t know were for an adult series, the producers had released as much as four new titles.

Among these, Ladies Hostel, an LGBTQ-themed adult series that revolves around two women who share a hostel room and become more than just roommates, was also released in Tamil, making it the first series from Yessma to be dubbed in another language.

Lakshmi Dheeptha, who had directed the previous Yessma series such as Nancy, Paalpayasam and Selinte Tuition Class, has helmed the latest series and short films too. Room No. 222, which dropped in the final week of October, is a supernatural adult web series that is centred on a forbidden relationship between a ghost and man.

The Hot Stone and Rs 1000 are the two other titles that dropped in November. The former revolves around a scriptwriter, who is spurned by his lover and leaves his family behind, to seek solace in a resort. How he becomes close to a woman who works in the resort is the plot of The Hot Stone, which is also produced by Aryanandha Creations.

The latest web series to hit the platform is Rs 1000, which revolves around a relationship between a house owner and a help. Yessma launched in August with Nancy and claims to be the only Malayalam OTT platform to stream exclusive adult content. Ullu TV, NueFlicks and Prime Fliz are some of the other OTT platforms in the country that are streaming adult content.
