Malayalam actor Sudev Nair, popular for films like My Life Partner, Ezra, and Bheeshma Parvam, essays a pivotal role in the Hindi web series The Jengaburu Curse.
The actor, who has played the antagonist in films like Thuramukham, Bheeshma Parvam, and Pathonpatham Noottandu, had told OTTplay in a recent interview that he doesn't want to play negative characters for the time being. So, his character in The Jengaburu Curse is different from his other recent roles.
Nila Madhab Panda, the director known for socially relevant films like I Am Kalam, Kaun Kitney Paani Mein, and Dark Wind, has helmed The Jengaburu Curse. Makarand Deshpande, Nassar, Deepak Sampat, and Hitesh Dave also star in the web series that will be available to stream on SonyLiv starting August 9.
According to the director, The Jengaburu Curse serves as a warning about the impending hazards of climate change. He had earlier shared the plot of the series through an Instagram post.
The story revolves around Priya (played by Faria Abdullah), who embarks on a journey in search of her missing father, an activist who spoke out against illegal mining in forests.
During her search, Priya comes across strange events that reveal a connection between a tribal group and the mining state of Odisha. Thus, The Jengaburu Curse is India's first climate fiction web series.
Sudev, who won the Kerala State Best Actor Award for My Life Partner, has also starred in films like Abrahaminte Santhathikal, Kayamkulam Kochunni, and Monster. He also had a pivotal role in Arjun Kapoor's India's Most Wanted.
Sudev is currently busy with Udal director, Ratheesh Reghunandan's new project, which also stars Dileep.
