Vivek Agnihotri, the National Award winner for The Tashkent Files, is back with The Kashmir Files, a disturbing, fascinating, and brutally honest film based on the genuine accounts of the Kashmir Genocide victims. The Kashmir Files takes viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions that erupted during the horrific occurrence, giving audiences a picture of the dread, bewilderment, and overwhelming panic that engulfed Kashmir at the time.

The film, which opened to a good response in a few half-full theatres yesterday, grossed over Rs 4.25 crores at the worldwide box office. The film is likely to do better over the weekend thanks to the rush of favourable reviews and word-of-mouth, offering audiences an accurate, true, and visceral account of the regrettable and saddening scenario in Indian history.

Meanwhile, as per Box Office India, The Kashmir Files has done exceptionally well on day one, grossing in the range of Rs 3.25 crores nett thanks to a strong evening push following a good to a decent start in the morning shows. The film was released on approximately 700 screens, mostly multiplexes, and it was well-received. It's the first post-pandemic urban concentrated release to perform well.

The film's box office is typically strong across the country, and it doesn't need to do much from here to become a hit. It's only a matter of seeing some decent development on Saturday and Sunday; typically, films of this genre require a lot of growth on Saturday, but this one did well enough on day one to ensure a successful weekend.

The film also stars national award winners Pallavi Joshi, Prakash Belavadi, Anupam Kher, and Mithun Chakraborty, as well as other well-known names such as Darshan Kumar, Bhasha Sumbali, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava, and Prithviraj Sarnaik.

The Kashmir Files is directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, IAmBuddha, Pallavi Joshi, and Vivek Agnihotri under the umbrellas of Zee Studios, IAmBuddha, and Abhishek Agarwal Arts. The compelling thriller is now playing in theatres around the country.
