Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film The Kashmir Files had recently unveiled its trailer , which as of today, has garnered over five million views. But it seems that the film has also gotten the director some negative and even hostile reactions, so much so that he had to deactivate his official Twitter handle.

The filmmaker took to Instagram to elaborate on the issue, explaining in a post the chain of events that led him to make the decision. He revealed that when he started to promote his upcoming film on Twitter, he got shadowbanned on the platform and started to lose followers as well. In addition to that, he said he was on the receiving end of an array of ‘hateful’ messages, some of which even targeted his family as well.

He talked about how social media has given immense power to a lot of ‘evil elements’, and that silence can make them expect that they will succeed. The filmmaker talked about how his upcoming film is an attempt to break such silence, and highlight the elements that ‘destroyed’ the country. He ended the post by thanking his fans and followers.
