The film Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri has been heaping praises ever since it was released in theatres. Several celebrities have also been tweeting about the movie, urging fans to watch it. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar too had praised the film. In a video, he had earlier said that Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files brought a 'painful truth to the fore and shook us all.' But his wife and former actor Twinkle Khanna seems to have a different opinion.
Khanna, daughter of late actor Rajesh Khanna and actress Dimple Kapadia, who gave up acting to pursue writing, recently targeted the movie on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in her column. The Mela actor talked about the success of The Kashmir Files and the Oscars ‘slapgate’.
In her column for The Times of India, she joked about how filmmakers are now using names of different cities in the titles of their movies indicating at Vivek Agnihotri’s movie. Khanna, who calls herself, 'Mrs Funnybones' wrote, “In a meeting at a producer’s office, I am informed that there is a deluge of fresh movie titles being registered as an homage to The Kashmir Files. Since larger cities have already been claimed, now the poor chaps are registering names like Andheri Files, Khar-Danda Files, and even South Bombay Files. I am just wondering if my colleagues can still call themselves filmmakers, or with all this filing, they, like the original nationalist, Manoj Kumar, have all turned into clerks.”
She further wrote in the article about how she discussed the idea of her new film with her mother Dimple Kapadia. According to koimoi.com, she said, “I am going to make a movie called Nail File.” Dimple had then asked her what would the film be about and if it will be on a 'disastrous manicure'. But Twinkle thinks her film will at least be better than putting 'the final nail into the communal coffin'.
Meanwhile, The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty, among others. Bankrolled by Zee Studios, the film hit the theatres on March 11. After its theatrical run, it will also be released on OTT. It will be out on ZEE5 in May.
