The trailer for The Kashmir Files, a drama that focuses on the Kashmiri Pandit exodus in the 1990s, will be released tomorrow (February 20) at 11 am. An official poster will also be unveiled at the trailer launch, states a press release.
The announcement was made today along with a poster that features the cast.
Anupam Kher plays Pushkar Nath, which is a tribute to his late father; Darshan Kumaar is Krishna Pandit, a third-generation Kashmiri Pandit; Pallavi Joshi is Radhika Menon, a college professor; Mithun Chakraborty is retired divisional Commissioner, J&K, Brahma Dutt.
Also part of the cast are Puneet Issar, Atul Srivastava, Mrinal Kulkarni, and Chinmay Mandlekar.
"When I heard the script, the story hit very close to home. No one speaks about the exodus that took place on January 19, 1990, but only gets mentioned on its anniversary. I'm sad that it's taken 32 years to narrate this story. It's the story of so many Pushkar Naths. I've not used any craft," Kher said in a recent public appearance, according to PTI.
Agnihotri has written and directed the film, which the press release calls "the most important, relevant, and unreported story of Indian history." The film is produced by him, Zee Studios and Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, and Joshi.
The Kashmir Files was earlier scheduled to hit cinemas on Republic Day this year but was postponed due to the third wave of the pandemic. It will now be out on March 11.
