Vivek Agnihotri's movie, The Kashmir Files has become the most talked-about movie recently. The film, which is based on Kashmiri pandits' exodus, has also received tremendous support from PM Narendra Modi. The film has taken the internet by storm.

The film has got into some controversies but the performances by its star cast which includes Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, and Darshan Kumar, has left the audience impressed. The film has been heaping praises for the subject it deals with and its performances.

The film has also initiated a conversation around the real-life incidents of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir insurgency on the internet. Many Kashmiri Hindus have shared their trauma when they had to leave their hometown. This has made the #KashmirFilesTruth trend on the social media platform.

Earlier, Modi had also praised the film and slammed those in the audience who criticised it. He had also made a special mention of the movie at the Parliamentary party meeting. According to mashable, he said, "People who always raise flag of freedom of expression are restless. Instead of reviewing the film on the basis of facts and art, there's a conspiracy to discredit it."

The Kashmir Files has collected a total of about Rs 60.20 crore, according to trade expert Taran Adarsh. Many states like Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tripura, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the country have made the film tax-free to motivate people to watch the film in theatres. A few state governments have also granted half-day or a full day leave to their employees to go watch the film.

Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film was planned for a release on Republic Day, earlier this year, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. It finally released on March 11.
