The Kashmir Files directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has been making waves around the country following its release. The director has now talked about making a web series based on the subject.
The cast and crew of The Kashmir Files were in Delhi, talking to the media about the film’s box office success. The director hinted at a web series based on the subject that he has collected.
"We have so much material that we can produce a series. All accounts are heart-wrenching. These are human stories... We are thinking about it... We will come out with a series." said Agnihotri.
He added that the response they have received from the community was tremendous and that everything was true accounts.
The filmmaker also called the film a testimonial of 700 Kashmiri Pandits and that it took his team four years to find the research material to make the film. He also added that the Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) helped in locating direct victims of the exodus.
The film, which is co-written and directed by Agnihotri, has received mixed reviews. The film has done well at the box office, with Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh declaring it tax-free.
Based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency in 1990, the film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, Prakash Belawadi and Puneet Issar among others.
The film, which is backed by Zee Studios and Abhishek Agarwal Arts, is currently available in theatres across the country.
