The Kashmir Files: Vivek Agnihotri’s film becomes the most watched title on ZEE5

Vivek Agnihotri’s Kashmir Files has set new records for its online premiere as well. After being the first Bollywood movie to surpass the $250 million mark at the domestic box office following the pandemic, the film has also achieved the highest opening weekend on ZEE5.

The film was released on the streaming platform on May 13 and has yet again surpassed all records. The film garnered the most number of views and streaming hours on the opening weekend at 6MN+ and 220MN+ respectively, and the largest number of views and streaming minutes for the first week at 9MN+ and 300MN+, respectively. After setting a world record for becoming the first OTT platform to premiere a Bollywood commercial movie with Indian Sign Language translation, this is another accomplishment for the Indian domestic OTT platform.

Manish Kalra, chief business officer, ZEE5 India, said in his statement that the film The Kashmir Files depicts a historically significant incident that has touched many people's emotions, and the response they've got is incredible. They wanted to make it available to a broader audience, so the streaming giant decided to release the movie in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Indian Sign Language. They are encouraged by the positive reactions the movie has received on ZEE5 in such a brief time.

From its theatrical premiere to now, its online premiere, the viewer's enthusiasm for The Kashmir Files has only risen, said director Vivek Agnihotri. He said this film has been his most rewarding endeavor to date, and is grateful to the audience for ‘accepting, loving, and adopting’ it. The first week's ratings for ZEE5's digital premiere are quite promising and he is hoping that with ZEE5's worldwide impact, more people will discover and view it.

Actor Anupam Kher who plays a lead role in the film said, The Kashmir Files is more than just a movie; it is a movement. He is pleased to see that it breaking all records on its online debut as well with its undefeated run on ZEE5. He is excited for the next few weeks because he knows this film still has a long road ahead and many more emotions to touch.

The Kashmir Files, which is available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Indian Sign Language, also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi, among others.
