The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, has become a blockbuster. The film stars Darshan Kumaar in the lead role with others. However, recent reports suggested that superstar Akshay Kumar and not Darshan Kumaar was the first choice for the project.
The movie’s producer Abhishek Agarwal has now clarified whether Akshay was actually going to be a part of the movie which eventually beat his movie Bachchhan Paandey at the Box Office. Abhishek clarified that Akshay was not approached for the film.
The producer spoke to Bollywood Hungama and said that while they had approached many, Vivek was sure that Darshan would play the role of Krishna Pandit. “He was very specific,” Abhishek told the portal.
Not just Abhishek, Vivek himself has maintained that he doesn’t want to work with stars. Even recently, the filmmaker stated that same. He made the statement when the media asked him whether he would work with Kangana Ranaut in his upcoming project.
The Kashmir Files, which is based on the right to justice, released in theatres on March 11. The movie has been working well at the Box Office and has entered its fourth week successfully now.
The film has been lauded for how it executed the story of exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits. Made on a budget of Rs. 70 crores, it has collected more than Rs. 300 crores gross so far.
The movie has also received praises from a few celebrities, including Akshay. The actor’s Bachchhan Paandey was affected by The Kashmir Files wave, which Akshay also agreed to.
The Kashmir Files also starred Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles. The film will now release on OTT on Zee5.
