The Kerala Story starring Adah Sharma has been in the news since the day it was released. The film, which was released on May 5 has been unstoppable at the box office and is making headlines for a lot of controversies. Post the release of the film, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee requested that the movie be banned. The Kerala Story's ban by the West Bengali government was overturned by the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Now, The Kerala Story's producer, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, has urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to watch the controversial film. The producer advised the West Bengal chief minister to speak with the filmmakers if she finds anything unsettling in the film.
He told news agency ANI: “With folded hands, I would like to tell Mamata Didi to watch this film with us and discuss with us if she finds anything as such. We would like to listen to all her valid criticisms and present our point of view”.
Shah added that worries about a law-and-order issue are "just an excuse." He further emphasised that during the 3.5 days the movie was shown in Bengal, there was not a single incident. The producer also expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court's decision to allow the divisive movie to be viewed in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
Director Sudipto Sen also reacted to this decision and told ANI, "No state can ban a film after it is passed by the Censor Board. This ban was illegal. Supreme Court proved once again that everyone has the right to watch the film, you may or may not like it but you can't stop someone forcefully. We always trusted the Supreme Court…Thank you to everyone who supported us, including the people of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu who reached out to me. They can watch the film tomorrow."
