Sunday's massive surges in ticket sales at major circuits helped The Kerala Story achieve a phenomenal Rs. 33 crore nett over the weekend. The box office rise on Sunday was around 50%, ensuring the film's continued success.

As per Box Office India, there's no stopping a film that grows like this on a Sunday; even if it had opened at 30% up, that would have ensured a good run, but it came out at 50% up. All around India, the collections have been phenomenal, topping Rs. 10 crore nett over the weekend, with spectacular collections in Gujarat and Saurashtra of over Rs. 2 crore nett on Sunday.

It remains to be seen if the picture can build on its strong opening weekend, which ranks third highest of the year behind Pathaan and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Jaan. Pathaan has already come out this year because otherwise, this film would be claiming the title of the most enormous blockbuster of the year. Last year, KGF 2 (Hindi) prevented The Kashmir Files from becoming the year's biggest hit.

The film has been pulled from theatres in Tamil Nadu but is still showing in Kerala, but neither of these facts matters much because it is still being seen by the majority of the population of India. The Kerala Story's three-day takings are as follows:

Friday: Rs. 6.75 crore

Saturday: Rs. 10.50 crore

Sunday: Rs. 16 crore

Total: Rs. 33.25 crore

While trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film has minted Rs. 35.25 crore in three days. His tweet read, "#TheKeralaStory is unstoppable and unshakeable... PHENOMENAL biz on Days 2 and 3 makes it a SMASH-HIT... Withstands two mighty opponents: the #Hollywood film #GotGVol3 and #IPL2023... Fri 8.03 cr, Sat 11.22 cr, Sun 16 cr. Total: Rs. 35.25 cr. #Indiabiz. #Boxoffice. Growth/Decline... Saturday: [growth] 39.73%; Sunday: [growth] 42.60%. EXTRAORDINARY TRENDING… All eyes on its business on Monday (sic)"

Sudipto Sen is in charge of directing, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah is in charge of producing The Kerala Story. The film stars Adah Sharma in the lead role.
