After winning the match, Virat Kohli was awarded an orange cap, which signifies the maximum number of runs scored by the batsman in the tournament so far. Minutes after receiving the award, Virat had a quick chat with cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle.

During the chat, Harsha congratulated Virat on welcoming a new family member, Akaay. Harsha was curious to know how Virat’s last couple of months have been. Responding to these, Virat said, “At the ground level you can say, my family and I were not in the country. We were at a place where people were not recognizing us. Spending time with my family and for us as a family, it (welcoming Akaay) was a surreal experience. Of course, (life after) having kids becomes totally different from a family perspective. So, just the ability to be together, the connections I have with my older child ... (smiles with gratitude) ... it feels amazing. I couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity that I got to spend time with my family.”

“When I came back on the field, I was just telling the guys that I could not look up and face the crowd. This was because I was not used to being called my name for months. Overall, it (parenthood) makes me feel amazing. I love to have a life that people would have on a normal regular basis,” he said.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child, son Akaay, on February 15, 2024, in London. The couple’s first child, daughter Vamika, was born on January 11, 2021. Virat is presently the most-followed Asian on Instagram and boasts a fan-following of over 266 million.
