It’s the Monday after release yet again for Marvel studios, and the first stage of the litmus test of whether The Marvels works in their favor or not is due today. The Brie Larson starrer made it out of the MCU mill at the time when the studio was striving and struggling to bounce back at the fading glory. While they are now taking some ruthless steps, the Nia DaCosta directorial has been at the center of too many debates already , and it looks like it is now suffering the lowest domestic opening of all time.

For the unversed, The Marvels stars Brie as Captain Marvel , Imam Vellani as Ms Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Captain Rambeau. The movie also stars Nick Fury, and Zawe Ashton and is an early build-up for the Avengers team because it is led by three of the pivotal female members of the new Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Turns out now as the final numbers are awaited, the reports in the West are saying that The Marvels has already hit the rock bottom even before it could take off well. The movie, as per reports is now officially the lowest domestic opening film in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Read on for the stats.

As per Comic Book Movie, The Marvels earned $21.5 Million on Friday. While those were very worrisome numbers, the report now claims that the Nia DaCosta directorial will earn a domestic opening between $47 Million and $52 Million. This is a very sad update for the studio, as the projection is way less than their lowest opening film of all time. The Incredible Hulk sits at the bottom with a $55.4 Million domestic collection.

What is even bothering is that The Marvels might even fail to cross the collection of DCU’s worst-performing movie. The Flash has earned a $55 Million domestic opening this year itself, and now Brie Larson's starrer is projected to be even less than that. Only time will tell if there is any good trigger in the fate of Nia DaCosta's directorial. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
