After a gap of almost two decades, Neo and Trinity are reuniting once again as the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. On the heels of The Matrix Resurrections’ release, stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss opened up about the ‘love story’ that formed a central part of the story.
In a conversation with Variety, Reeves revealed that one of the things that fascinated him the most about the new film was the well built love story in it.
Unlike the previous films, Trinity is unaware of the fact that she is trapped in a simulated reality in the new instalment, just like Neo. Instead, Neo takes on the role of her protector.
Moss also chimed in about how she could really sense director Lana Wachowski’s love for the couple throughout the film. The actress added that in some scenes she felt as though she was “embodying Wachowski’s heart” by playing her character.
The Matrix Resurrections is the fourth and latest instalment in The Matrix film series. The film is set almost 60 years after the events of 2003’s The Matrix Revolutions and finds Neo once again trapped in the titular simulated reality that is used by robots to enslave humankind.
Reeves, Moss, Lambert Wilson, and Jada Pinkett Smith reprise their roles from previous films. They are joined by new cast members including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Christina Ricci.
