Keanu Reeves’ The Matrix trilogy has been an iconic movie franchise for many years now. The fourth movie in The Matrix series titled The Matrix Resurrections released earlier this month and has received mixed reviews from audiences. 

Now, James McTeigue, the producer of The Matrix Resurrections has confirmed the status of future movies. When Collider asked him if the franchise will return with more movies in the future, he replied, “We've got no prequel in mind. We've got no sequel in mind. We've got no further trilogy.”

McTeigue, who also helmed movies such as V for Vendetta, The Raven, and Ninja Assassin, has now confirmed that there are no more movies that the fans of the franchise have to look forward to.

McTeigue, while is the producer of Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix Resurrections, he has a long standing connection with the Wachowskis, as he was assistant director on The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, and The Matrix Revolutions.

The movie, which was released with a lot of fanfare failed to make a big impact in the box office and was also received with opposing opinions within the fanbase. Set 60 years following the events of the first trilogy, the fourth movie features Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss return as Neo and Trinity. 

The science fiction action thriller also stars Lambert Wilson, Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
