Adapting a very popular show can be hard, but The Night Manager creator Sandeep Modi has won the lottery. The Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sobhita Dhulipala-led series, which is based on the 2016 British original of the same name, has received positive reviews from reviewers and spectators for its first instalment. While viewers wait for the next part of the Disney+ Hotstar show, reports have it that the second season is already in production.
A source told Mid Day that the team at Banijay Asia, which is making the Indian version, is currently discussing ideas. In June, after the second episode of the show starts streaming, scripting will start. Early in the next year, the creators intend to put it on the market.
Last week, an international website said that the Tom Hiddleston-starring British show had been picked up for a second season.
But, according to the sources, the Indian version won't be a translation of the British one in the future. The source continues that this time, the creators are working on some fresh ideas that are not tied to either the English series or John le Carre's book, which served as the inspiration for both shows.
The Night Manager centres on ex-soldier Shaan Sengupta (Aditya Roy Kapur), who must penetrate an armaments dealer's (Anil Kapoor) inner circle in order to topple his empire of war.
The series also stars Tillotama Shome as RAW agent Lipika Saikia Rao, Ravi Behl as Shelly's friend Jaiveer "Jayu" Singh, Rukhsar Rehman as Jaiveer's wife Mrinal Singh, and Saswata Chatterjee as Brij Pal, aka BJ, Shelly's right-hand man.
The second part of The Night Manager will be out in June this year. However, viewers are dissatisfied with Disney+ Hotstar's decision because the wait is too long.
