The Night Manager was definitely a highly anticipated show for fans, who were excited to catch Aditya Roy Kapur make his digital debut as the mysterious, suave Shaan. After a long wait, the series finally made its way onto Disney+ Hotstar, and fans seemed to have started binging it without wasting a single moment, and many took to Twitter to talk about how they found it.
The series is the Hindi adaptation of the English limited series of the same name, which in turn was an adaptation of John le Carré’s 1993 book of the same name. The original series starred Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, David Harewood and Elizabeth Debicki in lead roles.
The series was adapted in Hindi by Sandeep Modi. In addition to Aditya, the show also featured Anil Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee, Jagdish Rajpurohit, Salim Siddiqui, Anand Vikas Potdukhe and Ravi Behl in pivotal roles.
When the series debuted on Disney+Hotstar, it did not seem to live upto its hype, getting mixed reviews from netizens. The people who liked the series lauded it for its thrilling story and performances. “I can't believe I waited so long to watch #TheNightManager. It's a gripping and thought-provoking show that stays with you”, wrote a user.
The performances of the show’s lead cast was highly appreciated by viewers. Many of them could not stop gushing over Aditya.
Anil and Sobhita’s performances also received praise from viewers. Even the supporting cast were applauded for their portrayals as well.
The people who were less than impressed with the show called it a step down from the English original. “Honestly, #TheNightManager is lacklustre and a painfully slow watch even with just four episodes”, wrote a user.
Many users also addressed the glitch faced in Disney+ Hotstar while they were watching the show.
