Beyond her longtime admiration for Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone is diving deep into the world of the Osage Nation for her latest eleventh film. In a recent exclusive roundtable with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed how deeply inspired she is by the Osage language and culture, crediting them as the driving force behind her meticulous preparation for the role of Mollie Burkhart.

What did Lily Gladstone say?

“There were a lot of scenes I had written in English that I asked to be translated into Osage. So almost all of my dialogue at some point, I spoken in Osage and that's where I really found Mollie was in the language first”. Gladstone shared, “So when I had kind of a handle of the language, then putting on Osage dress, and holding myself the way I was told Osage women, especially at the time, hold themselves, I was in my first fitting with Julie O’Keeffe, and I remember when my broadcloth skirt, heavy woollen in Oklahoma in the middle of the Summer. Osage are tough people.”
