Netflix continues to expand its collection of action comedies with some of the biggest superstars from across the globe as part of this repertoire. Known to consciously tap into the affable space that drives the tagline 'Netflix & Chill', the streamer has continually produced and delivered original content in the action-comedy subgenre, and one such is about to drop in July.
Adam DeVine, the suitably affable face that has headlined The Pitch Perfect film series, When We First Met Him, Magic Camp, etc., stars in the Netflix original titled The Out-Laws, a loud and rollicking ride that follows an 'outlaw' couple that enters his life as his future in-laws. DeVine plays a straight-cut bank manager with former 007, Pierce Brosnan, and Ellen Barkin playing the parents of his fiance Nina Dobrev.
When a high-profile heist takes place in the very bank that Adam DeVine's Owen manages, the suspects are none other than his to-be in-laws. Things, though, turn exciting (as the trailer suggests) when Owen decides to partake in the action and pull off a heist along with his soon-to-be family members through the specific set of skills that he boasts.
The trailer also reveals that much of the film's charm is derived from the clash of contrasting personalities, with DeVine's Owen being far more submissive and law-abiding as opposite to the bit more 'anarchical' McDermotts, played by Brosnan and Barkin.
Michael Rooker, Poorna Jagannathan, Julie Hagerty, Richard Kind and others, too, star in 'The Out-Laws' which has been written by Evan Turner and Ben Zazove and directed by Tyler Spindel ('The Wrong Missy').
The Out-Laws will land on Netflix on July 7, 2023.
