British comedian, writer, actor, director Stephen Merchant, best known for his work on the The Office with Ricky Gervais, co-wrote, co-produced and co-directed the six-part comedy crime thriller The Outlaws, which came on BBC One in October last year.
Directed by Merchant along with John Butler, the story of The Outlaws follows seven strangers from different walks of life serving Community Payback sentences for various misdemeanors in Bristol. But then, their luck changes when they discover a bag full of money, unaware that some dangerous people are looking for it.
The seven on community service in The Outlaws are played by Christopher Walken as a grifter, Merchant as an unsuccessful lawyer, Rhianne Barreto as a bright Asian student with kleptomania, Gamba Cole as a ‘reformed’ gangster, Darren Boyd as a failing businessman, Claire Perkins as an activist, Eleanor Tomlinson as a social media influencer. Also in an important role is Jessica Dunning, as the community service supervisor.
The wickedly funny comedy crime thriller is now coming to India and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on April 1, 2022. This is the first season of Merchant’s show, which was renewed for a second in November last year. Filming on the second season has already been wrapped, with the show expected to drop on BBC One sometime this year. All the primary cast members of season one will return in the second as well. It will be available in India later. The series, which had a weekly release schedule, has been well received already and is expected to drop the entire season on Amazon Prime Video.
