Smriti Mundhra, an Indian-American filmmaker, expressed her gratitude for being able to interview Rishi Kapoor for her Netflix docuseries The Romantics. The Romantics will feature Rishi Kapoor's final interview, in which he will be heard speaking openly about his close friendship with Yash Chopra and what made them one of India's most cherished director-actor teams.

Smriti told ANI that the interview was fantastic. Rishi Kapoor was very eager to share his experiences and journey with Yash Chopra. He also discussed their relationship as a director-actor team in Hindi films.

The director also said that along with being a legendary actor, Rishi Kapoor also had vast knowledge of the Hindi cinema industry. He was as personable, intelligent, and willing to share memories as he always was on the day of their interview, which was his last. Smriti will always be grateful to him for the advice, stories, and point of view he gave her, and his death means that an important part of cinema history has been lost.

On cult successes like Kabhi Kabhie, Chandni, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (in which he co-starred with his wife Neetu Kapoor), Fanaa, Hum Tum, etc., Rishi Kapoor worked closely with Yash Chopra and later Aditya Chopra.

A four-part Netflix Global docuseries titled The Romantics pays homage to Yash Chopra, who is known as the "Father of Romance" in India because of his classic romantic movies like Silsila, Lamhe, Kabhi Kabhie, Veer-Zaara, Dil To Pagal Hai, Chandni, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, etc.

Smriti put a lot of effort into this documentary before she began filming. Before filming the documentary, she conducted historical research on Yash Raj Films while she was in India. She spoke with 35 prominent figures from the Hindi film industry who have worked with the production company for the past 50 years, such as megastars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, and Anushka Sharma.

Additionally, she succeeded in persuading Aditya Chopra to participate in his first-ever video interview, which must have been a tremendous challenge. It also goes back to how Aditya had a strong aptitude for filmmaking and had worked with Yash Chopra on numerous projects before making his directorial debut with DDLJ. The last time Aditya Chopra was interviewed was for a movie magazine in 1995.

As a tribute to Yash Chopra, the man regarded as the father of romanticism, the docuseries will be released on February 14. In 192 nations, individuals will be able to view the global documentary series!
