Netflix's much-anticipated docuseries The Romantics, which is based on the legendary film career of Yash Chopra, will premiere in a week. The four-part series will be streamed on the occasion of Valentine's Day 2023, and ahead of that, the OTT giant has been sharing teasers to keep up with the excitement. In the latest video shared by Netflix India, we see a few beautiful sequences from the most romantic films directed and produced by the late filmmaker.
There are glimpses of Chandni, Veer Zaara, Kabhi Kabhi, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and more. The teaser has also unveiled a few unseen photos of Yash Chopra, which are from his younger days and on the sets of his film.
In the video, Karan Johar is heard saying, "I just became obsessed with watching his films. And I feel that, 'Who is this man who is constantly responsible for mesmerising me as a child?'"
Katrina Kaif, who played the lead in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, said, "The way that Yashji portrayed his heroines was so dignified, graceful, and layered."
While Shah Rukh Khan, who was among Chopra's most favourite actors, praised the filmmaker by saying, "There were lovely, beautiful women and men, talking romance and poetry."
Amitabh Bachchan recalled how Yash Chopra kicked off the shoot of Kabhi Kabhie within 15 days of wrapping Deewaar. He said, "We shot for Deewaar for several months, and within 10 or 15 days, we started Kabhi Kabhie. Suddenly, shift to an environment that is full of flowers, mountains, and snow. But the ease with which he just adapted to that was quite remarkable."
Arjun Kapoor, who was launched by Yash Raj Films, went on to say, "I think most cinema today that follows commercial norms is all cut from the same cloth that Yash Uncle started."
The teaser is concluded by beautiful words by SRK for the legend, wherein he says, "As a professional actor, if I have to spend 100 days on a set, I'd rather do it on a Yash Chopra set than anybody else's."
The Romantics, directed by Smriti Mundhra, is premiering on Netflix on February 14, 2023.
