The Romantics Twitter review: Netizens say Aditya Chopra's Netflix debut take netizens across a roller coaster ride of nostalgia

Yash Raj Films is definitely a behemoth in Bollywood. The popular production house, founded in 1970 by veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra, has earned its place as a big player in Bollywood, with the reins of YRF now being in the hands of Yash Chopra’s son Aditya Chopra. When the latter announced that he would be making his Netflix debut with a documentary series detailing YRF’s legacy, cinephiles were intrigued indeed. So it was no surprise that fans were all set to binge the series when it dropped on Netflix on this year’s Valentine’s Day, and many of them took to Twitter to talk about it.

Many viewers, the hopeless romantics who held a special place in their heart for the gems that YRF gave them, like the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, seem to be taken across a nostalgic roller coaster ride after watching the show. One user spoke of how the show not only made them nostalgic but also reminded them why they loved Hindi films so much. This had led them to even binge a number of films mentioned in the series.

Many people were of the opinion that the docu series was perfect for people who loved Hindi films and its history. One user talked about how they were able to learn a lot about filmmaking from the series. “The Romantics on @netflix reminding me why I fell in love with Bollywood movies in the first place”, wrote another user.

The series also prompted one user to suggest that such documentaries should be made about other legendary directors as well, including popular South directors like K Balachander and Mani Ratnam. One user was displeased by the inclusion of Lily Singh in the documentary.

Ayushmann Khurrana, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Karan Johar, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik Roshan and Anushka Sharma, also made appearances in the documentary.
