Netflix is set to give viewers another romantic comedy where vastly different worlds collide, with its latest film The Royal Treatment. The trailer for the same was unveiled recently on the streaming giant’s Youtube channel.
The trailer introduces viewers to Isabelle, a self-assured and spunky New York City hair stylist who gets the job offer of her dreams when she is invited to be the stylist for a Royal wedding. When she and her acquaintances make their way to Lavania to meet up with her aristocratic clients, that's when she meets the groom and crown prince, Thomas.
The soft-spoken prince is conflicted, as he is not truly in love with the woman he is to marry and finds himself agreeing to the nuptials only to appease his parents. And as in all the good rom-coms, his life takes a turn when he meets Isabelle.
In almost a reversal of the plot of Aladdin, viewers see the Prince get a taste of ‘real life’ through Isabelle’s help, as she takes him through New York City streets and the two start to develop a close friendship, which slowly starts to turn into something more.
The Royal Treatment is directed by Rick Jacobson. The upcoming romantic comedy film features Disney alumni Laura Marano and Mena Massoud in lead roles. While the former had starred in the Disney series Austin & Ally, the latter was last seen in the live action remake of Aladdin.
The Royal Treatment will be available to stream on Netflix from January 20, 2022.
