The Royals' actress Bhumi Pednekar only wants to work in India, says 'I feel safe, seen and...'

While many hold Hollywood dreams and news of even Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan planning debut with Marvels makes the rounds, Bhumi Pednekar sings praises for her country, India. Soon to be seen in the web series The Royals, the Saand Ki Aankh actress rather connects to the desi side over any other country. She explains that there is none like India at the recently held Waves Summit. Bhumi feels safe, seen and much more in her homeland. Here's what she said...

Why Bhumi Pednekar will continue working only in India

Bhumi Pednekar loves the comfort, passion and work ethics in India. She thought to herself that India is the best place for her after shooting for a movie outside the country. "When I’m on a set in India, I feel safe, seen, and inspired," Bhumi said at the event. She pointed out equal number of men and women working behind-the-scenes as another reason for choosing work in India.

The actress ended the chat by talking about connecting globally through Indian storytelling. "If storytelling can shift mindsets and bring people closer, then we’re in a position of real power. And I’m so grateful that I get to do this — here, in India," she said.

Bhumi Pednekar, the lead in The Royals

The Royals, scheduled for an OTT release this week, sees Bhumi Pednekar as the female lead. The story is about her being an outsider among the royals but paving her way into the powerful Indian family through her role as a CEO who knows how to save one of India's most powerful aka The Royal family from the verge of bankruptcy. In exchange, she would marry the prince (played by Khaali Peeli actor Ishaan Khatter) and become one with the family.

Bhumi Pednekar’s other upcoming project

Apart from The Royals, Bhumi has another TV series. Titled Daldal, the show is about a female fighter. Although the shoot has wrapped up in 2024, the release date for this one is still not confirmed.
