The chance to see Irrfan Khan's talent once more on the big screen, the day before the third anniversary of his passing, is a precious one for his fans. The actor's swan song, The Song of Scorpions, debuted its trailer on Wednesday. The film, directed by Anup Singh and based in Jaisalmer's Thar desert, stars Iranian-French actor Golshifteh Farahani opposite Irrfan. Tillotama Shome, Waheeda Rehman, and Shashank Arora will all deliver strong supporting performances. Qissa: The Tale of a Lonely Ghost was Irrfan and Anup's previous collaboration.

The startling plot device in the trailer is a man receiving a scorpion sting. In this twisted tale of retribution and the healing power of music, the late actor portrays a camel dealer. Golshifteh Farahani's character Nooran, a fiercely independent tribal woman, is learning from Waheeda Rehman's character Zubeida how to use the ancient healing technique of scorpion singing. Local legends claim that the music of scorpions is the sole remedy for certain deaths following a scorpion sting.

Anup Singh said in a statement that the movie is about choice: one can either choose to breathe out the poison one breathes in or sing a song of love that heals instead of harms. Given the circumstances people live in, the movie is crucial. The filmmaker is delighted people will soon be able to watch it since Irrfan had a strong belief in it. For the entire team and him, it's a really emotional time. He is hoping that the film's showing will help Irrfan's family and all of those who cared about him heal.

In his previous year's published book, Irrfan: Dialogues with the Wind, Anup Singh also relived his recollections of working with the actor.

The co-production from Switzerland, France, and Singapore had its world debut at the Locarno International Film Festival to rapturous praise.

Irrfan's son Babil Khan also shared the trailer on his social media accounts with the claim that it "rings alive a heart-wrenching tale of love, obsession, and betrayal."

The response to his tweet from delighted followers was, "This would be a must watch." One more person wrote, "Wow! I'm really excited to see Irfan, sir.

The production company's chairman, Kumar Mangat Pathak, expressed similar enthusiasm for this "special" movie. He said that Irrfan is one of the most adored actors in the world. Through his cinematic journey, he impacted many people's lives, and those who knew him can attest that he was a kind man. They collaborated with him as a studio on the movie Sunday. As a testament to Irrfan Khan's creative talent, it is a privilege and an honour for them to present his final film.

The proprietors of 70mm Talkies, Shivv Sharma and Zeeshan Ahmad, are thrilled to show the movie to Irrfan's Indian fans. They referred to it as their tribute to the man and actor who has meant so much to so many of them.

The Song of Scorpions, an Irrfan Khan film, is scheduled to open in theatres on April 28.
