Paresh Rawal’s courtroom drama The Taj Story, more popular for its controversy, is now streaming on OTT. The movie, which had its theatrical run in October 2025, is now streaming digitally. The controversial film centers around Taj Mahal’s history, which indeed dragged the film into controversy. Here’s where you can watch it…
The Taj Story is currently streaming on the OTT platform Lionsgate Play. The movie can be accessed via your OTTplay Premium subscription. The film, much like expected, was out on Friday, March 13, 2026. It had released in theatres in October and has released on OTT on schedule.

The Taj Story is a movie that tells the story of the life of Vishnu Das, played by Paresh Rawal. He is a veteran guide at the Taj Mahal for over three decades. The story begins when a video containing a personal conversation between a drunk Das goes into circulation. In the video, Das expresses his doubts about the general belief that the monument of love – Taj Mahal – was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He speculates that the monument could have been used by Hindus as a temple or a palace before the advent of Islam.
Das becomes a recluse since the video went into circulation. He decides to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition in a bid to clear his name and prove his claims. This leads to a heated debate between Das and Advocate Anwar Rashid (Zakir Hussain) in the courtroom over historical facts, architectural theories, and records on the Mughal Empire.
The Tushar Amrish Goel directorial debut film was tagged as controversial since it received mixed reviews upon its release, with majority claiming it is a propaganda film made on unproven claims. The critics also panned the film for overuse of AI to recreate the historic events. Nonetheless, Paresh Rawal received praises for his acting in the film.

Also starring Amruta Khanvilkar as Harsha Patel, Sneha Wagh as Das' daughter Sushmita, Namit Das as Das' son Avinash, and Brijendra Kala as the lawyer Shashikant, The Taj Story is now streaming on Lionsgate Play (OTTplay Premium).
