The Taj Story plot and cast

The Taj Story centers around Taj Mahal, one of the greatest monuments of the world, and is expected to explore its history of love, devotion, and architecture with an interesting spin on the long-ongoing debate of whether it is a tomb or a temple. The film promises to invoke your curiosity around the century-old origins of the Taj Mahal and how the Mughals and other Indian rulers contributed to its history. More about the central narrative will hopefully be unveiled with a longer trailer as we get to unravel the mystery.

Paresh Rawal leads the talented ensemble cast of Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sneha Wagh, Namita Das, and others. The veteran actor is also gearing up for the release of Thamma, in which he plays a pivotal role alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The Taj Story controversy

Tushar Amrish Goel’s The Taj Story reignited flames of controversy surrounding the Taj Mahal’s origin as a tomb or a temple when it dropped its official poster of the upcoming film. In the poster, Paresh Rawal is seen peeking inside the dome of the Taj Mahal and is surprised to see Lord Shiva’s idol emerging from it. Later, Paresh Rawal deleted the poster from his social media and shared a statement from the makers that they are not trying to hurt any religious sentiments and viewers will decide their opinion after watching the film.

Meanwhile, Taj Mahal grabbed headlines when the claims of Tejo Mahalaya surfaced and challenged the historical facts that Taj Mahal is not a mausoleum but was instead a temple, which was restructured to make the marvellous monument. Several political leaders and figures have supported the claims of the Taj Mahal’s origin as a temple. However, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) put all the rumours of the Taj Mahal to rest when they filed an affidavit in 2018 and affirmed that the beloved monument of love and sacrifice is the tomb of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
