Netflix reportedly wants to make its recently released documentary The Tinder Swindler, where a man used the dating app to scam several women, into a feature film.
According to Variety, the streaming giant is in talks with producers to figure out the tone and direction they want to take.
RAW TV, the producers behind documentaries like Three Identical Strangers and Don’t F*** With Cats are the ones behind The Tinder Swindler, which dominated UK and US viewership since its release on February 2. AGC Media and Gaspin Media are also the producers.
The doc explores how an Israeli national Simon conned Scandinavian women of large sums of money by pretending to be Simon Leviev, the son of Israeli diamond tycoon Lev Leviev. The Tinder Swindler features accounts of these women and how they were lured by the fraudster and how, with the help of Norwegian journalists, they figured out his real identity.
Netflix is yet to put out an official word on whether the project will be greenlit.
