The Indian version of the popular reality show The Traitors will debut on June 12 on Prime Video. New episodes will be available to stream weekly on Thursday at 8 PM, hosted by Karan Johar.
With successful runs in the UK, the US, and several other countries, The Traitors—an adaptation of the very acclaimed psychological reality competition—has already amassed a huge international fan base. Players must not only achieve objectives but also outwit one another to survive in a game based only on suspicion, thanks to the format's signature combination of social gaming, dishonesty, and strategy.
In the Indian version, which takes place in a sumptuous palace, twenty contestants, including a full cast of famous faces, will work together to increase a reward purse. However, the host has carefully selected a few "Traitors" to stow away among them. Infiltrating the group and destroying its faithful members, or "Innocents", piece by piece, is their plan.
Part one of each episode takes place during the day, when the whole squad cooperates to do missions, and part two, when the Traitors pick an innocent person to kill. Gathered at the Round Table at the conclusion of each episode, the cast votes to eliminate a traitor, but, in the absence of proof, the eliminations frequently depend on paranoia, deception, and intuition.
There is a lot at risk. The Innocents will share the prize pot if they manage to find and destroy all the Traitors before the game ends. However, the full reward will be theirs if even a single traitor makes it to the very finish.
The Traitors is unusual among Indian reality shows in that it centres on psychological games, deceit, and strategy rather than physical challenges or talent-based performances. Trust turns into a weapon, and partnerships aren't always what they appear to be. The evening promises to be thrilling as allegiances shift, stakes escalate, and surprises abound.
The show relies on Karan Johar's (who produced Simmba and Gyaarah Gyaarah) flair for banter and drama to keep the tension simmering; it is produced by BBC Studios India Productions. The Traitors attempts to differentiate itself from other reality TV shows by combining elements of social strategy, celebrity intrigue, and suspense.
The Traitors will make its Indian premiere on June 12th, and it will be available exclusively on Prime Video.
