Today, Prime Video debuted the trailer for its next unscripted original series, The Traitors, the Indian adaptation of the immensely popular reality format. The first episode will air on June 12, and subsequent episodes will be available to stream on the platform exclusively every Thursday at 8 p.m. The show, hosted by Karan Johar, combines psychological games with elements of strategy and deceit.

Star-studded line-up of contestants

Season one of The Traitors features 20 famous people from many walks of life, set against the backdrop of Rajasthan's majestic Suryagarh Palace. Anshula Kapoor, Apoorva, Ashish Vidyarthi (Vedaa), Elnaaz Nourouzi (Chutzpah), Harsh Gujral, Jannat Zubair (Aap Ke Aa Jane Se), Janvi Gaur, Jasmin Bhasin (Warning 2), Karan Kundrra, Lakshmi Manchu, Maheep Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabra, Nikita Luther, Purav Jha, Raftaar, Raj Kundra, Sahil Salathia, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sufi Motiwala, and Uorfi Javed are all part of the lineup.

A social deduction model informs the show's format. Karan Johar has already cast some of the competitors as "traitors" behind their backs, while the others pretend to be "innocents" at the moment. While striving to uncover and destroy the betrayers among them, the innocents must cooperate to finish objectives that contribute to a shared prize fund. Meanwhile, the traitors need to trick people into killing innocent people without anyone noticing.

High stakes, emotional drama, plot twists

You may see glimpses of chaotic battles, emotional breakdowns, strategic manipulation, and surprising turns in the trailer, all of which point to intense gameplay. Changes in alliances, betrayals of trust, and rising stakes characterise the game's progression.

Host Karan Johar exclaimed that The Traitors is a show to watch out for! He described the series as being "characterised by lies, deceit, betrayal, and a whole lot of drama!" As the mastermind of the game and a keen observer of the chaos and intrigue among the twenty participants, the filmmaker asserted that viewers will witness his exuberance. The stakes are really high, and the drama is intense. As soon as he selects the traitors from among the players, all of their well-laid plans will crumble. The players had come to the palace prepared to outwit, outplay, and outlast their opponents.

The Traitors promises to deliver a weekly serving of thrills and excitement with its unconventional format and an all-star ensemble. The show will culminate in a grand finale, where intelligence alone will determine the victor, regardless of guilt or innocence.
