Previously seen in Chidiyaghar, Shubh Mangal Mein Dangal and Criminal Justice 3, among others shows, air-hostess-turned-actress Nancy Gill is elated to be part of Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming legal drama series, The Trial, starring Kajol. Directed by Suparn Verma, the show is inspired by Robert King and Michelle King’s The Good Wife.
Also starring Jisshu Sengupta, Kubbra Sait, Sheeba Chaddha, Aamir Ali and Alyy Khan, the plot revolves around a housewife who returns to work at a law firm after a break of 13 years. She does that in order to support her family when her husband is convicted in a case and sent to jail.
On Friday, Kajol announced a ‘break’ from social media in a cryptic message, sending her fans into a frenzy. But later it turned out that the mention of ‘trial’ in her post was about the new series coming up.

Speaking about being part of The Trial, Nancy said, “I am very excited about the show, mainly because it’s a courtroom drama - something that I have always been excited about. The intelligence and intensity with which lawyers make arguments have always intrigued me. I am eagerly looking forward to its release.” The show will start streaming on the OTT platform from June 12.
Recalling an incident with Kajol on the set, the actress said, “I remember Kajol being very sick on the set one day. She was running a high fever, but she was still determined to continue shooting. Somehow, seeing such dedication toward her job made me respect her even more. I have always been a fan of Kajol, so much so that I had a big poster of her in my room during my childhood days.”
Describing her rapport with the director, Nancy said, “He’s a very relaxed and fun-loving person, who kept everyone’s spirits high on the set. With regards to briefing, he trusts you and lends enough liberty to take up the reins of your character. However, if during the shoot he thinks it isn’t working, he would just come and tell you to try another way.”
