The Trial actress Sheena Chohan teams up with JD Chakravarthy for Telugu debut

After making a mark across multiple industries — Hindi, Bengali and Malayalam — actress Sheena Chohan gears up for her Telugu cinema debut with a film headlined by J D Chakravarthy. The actress continues her terrific run in 2023 with the Telugu project, after starring in Disney+ Hotstar’s showThe Trial (Kajol) and sharing screenspace alongside Subodh Bhave in Sant Tukaram.

Sheena’s Telugu debut with JD Chakravarthy is touted to be a pan-Indian film and will simultaneously release in three languages: Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. The film went on floors the previous weekend. Malkapuram Shivakumar, who backed films like Karthikeya 2 and Surya vs Surya in the past, is bankrolling the film under Suraksh Entertainment. Shravan Jonnada will be directing the film.

The actress labels the new role a challenging one and says that the project materialised in Mumbai after she’d met the producer, Shivakumar. She says he’s been supportive of her talents and thanks him for giving her a platform to make her presence felt in Telugu cinema. Sheena is all praise for director Shravan for trusting her fully and is looking forward to collaborating with him and bringing her role to life.

Several workshops were conducted with the cast and crew of the untitled film prior to the shoot. The film was formally launched with a private pooja ceremony earlier in October. Besides the multilingual project, the producer Shivakumar is also coming up with a light-hearted entertainer, Tiragadabara Saami, headlined by Raj Tarun, Mannara Chopra and Manvi Malhotra. He backed Dora and Yamudu 3 earlier too.

While making her on-screen debut alongside Mammootty in Malayalam, Sheena went on to act in the web shows Fame Game, City of Dreams, and The Trial. Meanwhile, Sant Tukaram, directed by Aditya Om, where she plays Sant Tukaram's wife, is due for release soon. Sheena’s Telugu film has a stellar lineup and crew, the makers say.
