The unofficial remake of The Eye of the Needle starring Donald Sutherland based on Ken Follet’s novel of the same name was loosely adapted into the critically acclaimed film Fanaa, starring Amir Khan and Kajol. More recently Malayalam films such as Drishyam and its remakes have garnered both critical and commercial success. However, the remakes of films such as Warrior to the Akshay Kumar film Brothers drew mixed reactions. Regardless of the reception, such adaptations have invariably courted plenty of hype and fanfare leading up to their releases.
