Silambarasan's action entertainer Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, which hit screens on September 15, is all set to premiere on OTT. The buzz is that the film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on the occasion of Diwali. The gangster film, helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, has been declared a hit at the box office. Come October 15, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu will complete one month of release in theatres. Hence, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the film on the digital platform. There is a strong buzz that the film will hit screens on October 21 ahead of Diwali. However, the makers have not made any official statement on the same.

What's interesting is that despite the release of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan and Selvaraghavan's psychological thriller Naane Varuvean, the film continues to run in certain theatres. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has been bankrolled by Ishari Ganesh's Vels Film International. Buoyed by the success, the makers had gifted the lead actor a luxury car and the film's director, a superbike on the occasion of the film's success meet.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is a duology and the first part has been titled as Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part I: The Kindling. A sequel is in the works. The film marks the debut of Siddhi Idnani as the leading lady. The star cast includes Neeraj Madhav, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Delhi Ganesh, Siddique and Appukutty among to name a few. The story has been penned by B Jeyamohan. Music for the film is by AR Rahman, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and editing by Anthony.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has Silambarasam playing a small-town graduate, who finds it hard to make ends meet. The film chronicles his journey and how he ends up getting embroiled in the Mumbai underworld and his rise to becoming a dreaded gangster. Silambarasan had undergone a massive body transformation for the role and was appreciated for the same along with his performance in the film. If the digital release happens on Diwali, as per the rumours, its indeed going to be a Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu for fans.
