Sony LIV has finally released the trailer for their highly anticipated historical drama series The Waking of a Nation, which is based on actual events and promises to be an impactful watch. Ram Madhvani created and directed the show, which will premiere exclusively on Sony LIV (OTTplay Premium) on March 7, 2025.

Exploring the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre

The series explores the tensions and causes of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, a terrible chapter in India's history that occurred during the country's fight for independence. In The Waking of a Nation, Taaruk Raina's character, Kantilal Sahni, uncovers a colonial and white supremacist conspiracy. The program reinterprets the past through the prism of the Hunter Commission's investigation.

Ram Madhvani’s passion for the project

Madhvani, who created, directed, and co-produced The Waking of a Nation, was very enthusiastic about the project and referred to it as one of his favourites. The exhibition is more than that; it is his means of drawing attention to the illustrious past and present of India and the hardships the nation has endured. The filmmaker is very moved to share this story because of the underlying conspiracy that surrounds the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy.

He is excited to work with Sony LIV and his amazing cast members Taaruk, Nikita, Sahil, and Bhawsheel, and he is pleased with the distinctive storytelling approach he has brought to this project. Madhvani, along with Amita Madhvani and the rest of the crew at Ram Madhvani Films, is eager for people to see this inspiring story of perseverance and bravery.

Taaruk Raina on playing Kantilal Sahni

When asked about his role as Kantilal Sahni, Raina said The Waking of a Nation was one of his most profound adventures. This performance honours the innumerable, often-ignored heroes who gave their lives for India's freedom. It has been an honour and a challenge for the actor to play this character—a man torn between duty and truth. The story is not just about history, but also about the courage to fight for justice in the face of overwhelming challenges. The tenacity and selflessness that formed the nation should be remembered via this series.

The show's writers include Ram Madhvani, Shatrujeet Nath, and Shantanu Srivastava. On March 7, Sony LIV will begin streaming The Waking of a Nation, an unprecedented look into Indian history.
