The Warrior director Lingusamy gets 6 months jail sentence in cheque bounce case

Ace director Lingusamy, whose recent film, The Warrior hit screens, has been sentenced to jail for 6 months in a cheque bounce case. The Saidapet court sentenced Lingusamy and his brother Subhash Chandra Bose to 6 months imprisonment in the case that involves a financial company. The brothers run the production house, Tirupathi Brothers, which has produced a number of hit films. and has also distributed many movies.

The production house is now facing financial trouble. A case filed by the Telugu production house PVP Cinema, which involved a bounced cheque of Rs 1.03 crore, came up for final hearing today at the Saidapet Court. The judge sentenced Lingusamy and his brother Subash Chandrabose to six months imprisonment. 

We hear that Lingusamy had borrowed money from PVP to produce a movie titled Yenni Ezhu Naalukulla. The film, which was supposed to feature Karthi and Samantha in the lead, never took off. But when the director did not repay the loan, and the cheque that they issued, too bounced, PVP Cinema decided to take action against the director. Now, we hear that Lingusamy and his brother are planning for an appeal.

Lingusamy's last release was The Warrior, an action entertainer that starred Ram Pothineni in the lead. The film was a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The film also starred Aadhi Pinisetty, Krithi Shetty, Akshara Gowda and Nadhiya. Music for the film is by Devi Sri Prasad. The film marked Lingusamy's debut in Telugu film industry. Music for The Warrior was by Devi Sri Prasad. The film, opened to negative reviews and tanked at the box office. Lingusamy's last release Sandakozhi 2, had failed to set the cash registers ringing and The Warrior was said to be his comeback film.

Lingusamy has a number of hits to his kitty, including Anandham, Run, Sandakozhi, Ji, Bheema, Paiyaa, Vettai and Anjaan.
