The past can offer lessons in many forms, and it certainly did offer Ritwik Bhowmik some important ones he could use in the present. The Whistleblower star recently revealed how his background as a theatre actor gave him some important lessons on how to deal with fans and audiences.
In conversation with TellyChakkar, the actor talked about how he had been involved in theatre for quite some time, and how the audience’s reactions were instant in them. He used to pay attention to the reactions so that he would know where he had to improve upon when it was time to hit the stage again. Even portraying characters on the silver screen, the actor had tried to inculcate the same as well. He revealed that he took all the negative comments and trolling he got on social media in a very optimistic light, using it as an opportunity to better his craft.
The star also talked in length about his recent web series, The Whistleblower, which is based on the infamous Vyapam entrance examination scam that came to light in 2013.
Bhowmik talked of the complexity of his character on the show, and how working on it was a delightful learning experience for him. He added he considered himself lucky to work alongside the talented cast of the show, which included Ankita Sharma, Sachin Khedekar, Ridhi Khakhar, Ashish Verma, and Ravi Kishan.
Bhowmik said that he did not feel any kind of attachment to characters he plays, like some actors do. After finishing a role, he would move onto the next one, while keeping in mind the good memories of his previous one, he added.
The Whistleblower is created by Ajay Monga, who also served as its writer. Directed by Manoj Pillai, the series is available to stream on SonyLIV.
