Amazon Prime Video debuted the trailer for Season 2 of the YA survival thriller series The Wilds today.
Here is the official synopsis: "In Season 2, survival hangs in the balance for the group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, after the explosive discovery that what's happening to them is an elaborate social experiment. This season ups the drama and keeps you guessing, with the introduction of more test subjects—another island of teenage boys—who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment’s puppet master."
The trailer opens with a voiceover recapping the events of Season 1 about how two plane crashes, one carrying a group of girls and the other a group of boys, were staged. The passengers in both planes were drugged without their knowledge and thrown into the deep end, where they had to learn how to survive in the wild.
Staying far away from civilisation with only each other for company seems to clearly take a toll on these teenagers. One of them notes, "Some of us were becoming monsters..." The trailer shows the beginning of new relationships and then the gruesome decisions some of them take in order to stay alive. All this while they are being watched by the experiment's puppet master.
The Wilds is created and executive produced by Sarah Streicher alongside showrunner and executive producer Amy Harris. The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.
