It is International Women's Day and Raima Sen opens up about why her mother Moon Moon Sen is still the most influential woman in her life. Raima, who debuted with 1999-film Godmother with Shabana Azmi has presented numerous films with strong women leads. Recently, her Netflix drama Mai with Sakshi Tanwar garnered appreciation. While talking to OTTplay, Raima talked about her growing up days with her mother.

Raima comes from a family of strong women. Her grandmother Suchitra Sen, mother Moon Moon, and sister, Riya – all are successful in their career. Talking about the most influential woman, she said, “My mother is my role model. I look up to her for everything – for advice, etc. She is my biggest critic. She is my fashion icon. I look up to her for her knowledge, her compassion, and the way she deals with people.”

Raima also identified her mother as a fearless woman who is not scared of anyone. “She is very brave and bold and yet she is very sensitive. She is not afraid of anyone and I got that from her. I am not afraid of anyone,” said the actress. Raima also pointed out how Moon Moon protects them. “I love the fact that she will go to any length to protect us. The whole world can say what they want and my mother will take our side. Nothing can change her mind about us,” she added. 

Raima pointed out that her mother is an insightful woman. “She managed her home and profession beautifully. To me, she is the most beautiful woman I have seen. Her insights have shaped me into the way I am. Whenever I was depressed, sad, or happy, she would tell me her stories and I would relate to her completely. She manages to pull me out of every situation. She inspires me. She is a great judge of character. She is very intuitive. She would tell me something about someone and I won’t believe her then and later I would learn the hard. Now I believe her. She is always right. She is always there for me.” 

Raima confessed that her mother kept her and Riya grounded. “She is real she kept us grounded. She let us do what we want but there is always a limit that she would not let us cross. She is very forgiving. She is understanding,” the Chokher Bali actress recalled, adding, “She has great knowledge about everything. She has lived more than me and now I listen to her. She deals with me beautifully. She is my role model for everything. She is a pillar of strength for everyone. She is a woman show.”
