Scout Taylor-Compton as Star in They Turned Us Into Killers
A Gravitas Venture production, They Turned Us Into Killers is an upcoming revenge horror movie that will feature Scout Taylor-Compton as the protagonist, Star. Directed by Thomas Walton, the film will drop on VOD outlets on January 9, 2024, but their names have not been revealed yet.
Comprising a hefty cast other than Compton, the film also has Michael Berryman, Kane Hodder, and Taryn Manning as some of the more popular faces. The official trailer of They Turned Us Into Killers dropped yesterday, December 15, 2023, and it featured a gory peek into the actual blood bath that the film promises to be.
Offering a brief plot premise, thanks to Karma’s letter to her best friend Star, the trailer recounts what happened to the former before her demise. Naively trusting her devious and shady boyfriend BJ, Karma is drugged and then raped by BJ and his two brothers. It is not revealed if or how many of his friends were involved in the trailer.
A hysterical and traumatized Karma slits her wrist and kills herself in the bathroom, but not before sending a letter, detailing her ordeal and how she felt ‘consumed’ by her toxic relationship, before the horrific incident took place. An enraged Star, essayed by Scout Taylor-Compton, begins to wreak havoc. But she is not alone, she has a burly sidekick to help.
The trailer also features a creepy, sadistic smile on the beautiful and blonde Star, who coos at her strapped victim, “What... are you afraid of little, old me?” before killing him. She also likes reading out Karma’s letter to her victims and getting the truth from them by torturing them using a medley of tools.
The trailer shows that the film does not stagnate at only being a revenge thriller but also has a crime investigation aspect, that inspects the cases that our protagonist commits. Though not a strikingly new interpretation, the film does focus on the foundation of friendship as a solid motivation for a revenge killing spree in a refreshing way.
