Director Senna Hegde’s Malayalam debut, Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, has already been noted for winning this year’s Best Story and Second Best Film awards at Kerala State Film Awards. And its trailer reveals why the movie could be an absolute delight to watch.
Set in Kanhangad, Kasaragode, the endearing characters of the film from its trailer is sure to catch your attention, thanks to the dialect which has not been explored much in Malayalam cinema and also due to the quirky instances they find themselves in.
Starring Anagha Narayanan, Aishwarya Suresh, Anuroop P, Manoj KU, Sajin Cherukayil, Sunil Surya, Unnimaya Nalappadam, Ajisha Prabhakaran and Arpith Hegde, the film’s tone is also another highlight that was much discussed at this year’s International Film Festival of Kerala.
The comedy-drama is directed by Senna Hegde, who had earlier helmed the Kannada movies - 0-41 and Katheyondu Shuruvagide. Senna has also co-written the screenplay for the movie along with Sreeraj Raveendran. While Mujeeb Majeed is its composer, Sreeraj Raveendran served as the cinematographer of the film.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Senna, who hails from Kanhangad, told us that he had written the story of Thinkalazcha Nishchayam right after Katheyondu Shuruvagide.
The film revolves around an engagement ceremony of the lead character Vijayan’s second daughter Suja. However, as Suja starts having second thoughts, Vijayan's financial trouble and the dynamics those who come to attend the function pave the way for a sequence of unexpected events. The movie was shot in about 23 days and concluded production just before the pandemic.
Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam will release directly on the OTT platform SonyLIV. The trailer, which dropped today, however, did not reveal the release date of the movie. This will be SonyLIV’s second direct Malayalam release after Kaanekkaane last month.
