The year 2014 saw the release of the Farah Khan directed ‘Happy New Year’. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani in the lead roles. The on-screen bonding and chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone were one of the talking points in the film. One such name is that of Sonam Bajwa, one of the prominent faces in Punjabi film industry. In an interview with ‘Mashable India’, Sonam revealed that While speaking to Mashable India, she had gone for the audition of ‘Happy New Year’ with her mother. She recalled stating she didn’t have a car at that time and that her mother was there for a few days and it was raining cats and dogs , when they gave a scene for the audition. Sonam said that, while for the dialogue, she was given the scene ‘easy lagta hai Mohini ka dance’, and for the dance, they had asked her to perform on ‘Chikni Chameli’.
Sonam said that, since it was raining badly, they (herself and her mother) had got totally drenched by the time they reached the venue. She also revealed that she was feeling so bad that her mother (whose clothes were wet because of rains) waited clothes, patiently waited for her to give the audition. Sonam also said that that particular audition will always be special for her as it was the only time when she had accompanied her for the audition.
On the professional front, Sonam Bajwa will now be seen two Punjabi films. These films are titled as ‘Godday Godday Cha’ and ‘Carry On Jatta 3’.
