After the initial level of yes-yes-no-no, the much-awaited Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 has now finally been cleared for release. For the unversed, after the immense backlash that the Prabhas-Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Adipurush’ had received for its storyline, the Censors were definitely not wanting to take any iota of a chance as far as the film OMG 2 was concerned. After going through a series of ‘check-ups’ by the concerned authorities, the film finally has been cleared for release. The Censors have made few changes in Akshay Kumar’s character and also has cut as many as 27 scenes.

Speaking to India.com, Vivek Agnihotri expressed his displeasure about the same. Not just that, he also voiced his opinion stating that Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) should not exist at all! When asked about his opinion about the changes in Akshay Kumar’s character, Vivek said, “No, it is not justified. I don’t agree with that. First of all, even though I am a part of CBFC, I am totally against it. CBFC shouldn’t be pressurised to do anything. Whatever is happening, it’s happening because of social and religious pressures”.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri also went onto add that everyone now understood he CBFC was a vulnerable body that will succumb to pressure. He also added that, he simply failed to understand the reason as to why the film (OMG 2) should be asked to make 27 cuts in the film and also why should the CBFC be the deciding authority.

While on the topic of CBFC, Vivek Agnihotri said that, even though he was a part of CBFC, but, if he was to be asked, then, he honestly believed that there shouldn’t be any CBFC. He also added that, he was against any kind of boycotts and bans on the movies as he believed in free speech to the extent that, even hate speech should be allowed.

As for OMG2, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in the leading roles. The film is being readied for a theatrical release on August 11.
