Bollywood actress Yami Gautam was recently seen in the film, Article 370, alongside Priyamani. The actress, who is soon going to experience the joy of motherhood, took to her social media, and wrote that she has stopped attending ‘fake’ filmy awards and is happy after Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy won the prestigious Academy Award for his performance in Oppenheimer.

Yami Gautam congratulates Cillian Murphy

Yami Gautam took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday and wrote, “Having no belief in any of the current fake ‘filmy’ awards, since the last few years, I stopped attending them but today I am feeling really happy for an extraordinary actor who stands for patience, resilience & so many more emotions.”

Speaking about how she believes talent and hard work always get recognised, even on the global stage, she wrote, “Watching him being honoured on the biggest global platform tells us that in the end, it’s your talent that stands the tallest above anything. Congratulations #CillianMurphy! #Oscar2024."

Cillian’s Oscar win

Cillian competed against Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers), Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction) and Bradley Cooper (Maestro) to win the coveted award. It was also his first Oscar nomination.

In his speech, the celebrated actor thanked director Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, his producer, his team, and his family. He ended his speech by saying he was a “very very proud Irishman”.

“We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb and for better or worse we’re now living in Oppenheimer’s world now. So, I’d like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere,” he said.

Christopher Nolan’s 2023 film, Oppenheimer, has scooped this year’s ceremony after bagging seven Oscars, with pivotal wins for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor.

Soon-to-be mother Yami Gautam

On her personal front, Yami had earlier revealed that she was expecting her first child with director and husband Aditya Dhar with whom she tied the knot in 2021, among friends and family.
