This popular director to join the set of Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai?

If the buzz is to go by, ace director Rajiv Menon is all set to join the sets of Vetri Maaran's upcoming film Viduthalai. Though there has been no official announcement of the same, we hear that the Sarvam Thaala Mayam director will be seen in a crucial role in the film. The plot of Viduthalai is based on a novel penned by writer Jeyamohan.

Viduthalai has ace comedian Soori in the lead and Vijay Sethupathi in an extended special appearance. While Soori plays a police constable in the film, Vijay Sethupathi is said to be like his teacher and is fondly known as Vaathiyar. The supporting cast includes Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Kishore. It was reported recently that Vijay Sethupathi's son had joined the sets to essay the role of a tribal boy.

The film is touted to be a crime thriller and will be made in two parts. While the shoot for the first part has been wrapped up, the majority of the portions for the second part have been canned as well. The film was shot in the dense forests of Sathyamangalam with bare minimum facilities.

While the cinematographer for the film is Velraj, a regular in Vetri Maaran’s films, Ramar is in charge of the editing. Peter Hein has choreographed the action sequences and Jacki is handling the art direction. Though the portions were being canned at a brisk pace, the pandemic put a brake on the work.

Music for the film is by Isaignani Ilaiayaraaja and Viduthalai marks the maiden collaboration between Vetri Maaran and Ilaiyaraaja. The film is bankrolled by Eldred Kumar’s RS Infotainment and is said to have a pan-Indian release with releases in many languages. Viduthalai is one of the most anticipated films of Vetri Maaran, who is also working on Suriya's Vaadi Vaasal.
