Thor: Love and Thunder, which is the fourth standalone Thor movie from the MCU, released yesterday in the country after a lot of wait. The movie, which stars Chirs Hemsworth, Christian Bale and Natalie Portman, has now made an opening of over Rs. 20 crore. 

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has minted an impressive Rs. 18.60 crore on day one across the country. The movie has also now made into the list of top five biggest openings for a Hollywood movie. The list, which is dominated by movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has Avengers: Endgame on the top with an opening of Rs. 53.10 crore. 

Helmed by Taika Waititi, the movie sees Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor and Bale as the main antagonist. Waititi, who also helmed Thor: Ragnarok, has also reprised his role as Korg.

Thor: Love and Thunder follows Thor as he has to find a way to stop Gorr the God Butcher, who is on a mission to wipe out all the gods from the universe. The movie has received mixed to positive reviews following its release. 

“Brilliant Chris Hemsworth is joined by the stupendous Natalie Portman and Christian Bale in Thor: Love and Thunder, while Taika Waititi plays it very safe with the screenplay this time,” read the movie’s review on OTTplay. 

The movie also features Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper in other important roles. 

Thor: Love and Thunder is available in theatres around the country in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
