Thor: Love and Thunder teaser: The God of thunder calls it quits on his superhero days as he goes in search for a new purpose

Thor: Love and Thunder will see the God of thunder return to screens yet again, although in a much different way than fans would remember. The highly awaited new Marvel film unveiled its teaser today.

In the teaser, the mighty God of thunder seems to be all set to hang up Stormbreaker as he embarks upon a journey of self discovery to ‘figure out’ who he is. "These hands were once used for battle, now they're but humble tools for peace. I need to figure out exactly who I am," he is heard saying. The Guardian of the Galaxy also seems to be playing a part in Thor’s search for purpose, as the Star-Lord gives his fellow hero some wise advice.

The makers also unveiled a brand new poster for the film today. It features Thor standing tall on a jagged mountain with Stormbreaker in hand, as bright flashes of lightning pierce the skies.

The upcoming film will follow Thor as he strives to find his purpose in life, which becomes interrupted when he has to face off against Gorr the God Butcher. To help him in his quest of taking down the villain, he turns to familiar allies, King Valkyrie, Korg, and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, among others.

Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor in the film, which also features Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Taika Waititi, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Vin Diesel, among others. Bale joins the MCU as Gorr the God Butcher, the film’s main antagonist. Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok (2017), also directed the upcoming film. He has also penned the film’s script along with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theatres on July 8, 2022.
